Trichet: 'Premature' to say crisis is over

The President of the European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet says it was "premature" to declare the global financial crisis over.

However he says the ECB has a strategy to withdraw the liquidity-providing measures put in place to support the financial system through the credit crunch, when the time is right to do so.

The Bank is expected to provide details on how the measures will be scaled back at a meeting in early December.
