Somers 'in line for AIB post'

The outgoing boss of the body which manages the State's debt, the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA), is in line for a top position in AIB.

It has been reported that Dr Michael Somers is in talks to become deputy Chairman of the State's largest bank as part of a major shake-up at the top of AIB.

It follows months on wrangling between the bank and the Department of Finance which would see chairman Dan O'Connor take on extra responsibilities in the running of the bank as executive chairman.
