UPC reports rise in revenues, subscriptions

Communications group UPC Ireland, owners of Chorus and NTL, today reported a 1.6% rise in profits for the third quarter of 2009, with revenues of €61.6m up from €60.6m in Q3 2008.

Operating cash flow for the quarter was €24.5m, up from €23.7m for the same quarter last year.

UPC Ireland CEO Robert Dunn described the quarterly results as "strong" and said the company was continuing to invest in upgrading its network and product portfolio.

“Looking ahead, we will continue to take all necessary steps to allow us to continue to invest in our upgrade programme to deliver market leading fibre power services and real competitive value Irish consumers," Mr Dunn said.

The company revealed that its telephone subscriptions grew 21% quarter-to-quarter for a total of 53,000 at end September. Residential broadband subscriptions stood at 135,000 at the same point while the company had over 338,000 digital TV customers.
