Software firm to open centre in Boston
An Antrim software company is opening a centre in Boston, it was revealed today.
Consilium Technologies makes mobile computer equipment for government departments and local authorities. Its TotalMobile product means salesmen on the road can use their mobile phone to access backoffice operations at headquarters.
Managing director Colin Reid said: “We’ve decided to open in Boston because of the high level of interest there is in our TotalMobile solution for what is now a fast growing market opportunity in the public sector.
“Over the past year we have been successful in winning a number of contracts both at a state and municipal level within Massachusetts.
“We were also encouraged by the research which indicated that TotalMobile offered a solution not currently available in Massachusetts and surrounding areas.”
They have recruited four new staff. The company employs around 90 people in Antrim and has substantial business with public sector bodies in Great Britain. It is also working on projects in New England.“
Mr Reid added: “Developing what could be a huge market for TotalMobile required a significant presence on the ground and led us to invest in a base at the heart of the Boston business district.”
Business development group Invest NI assisted it with consultancy and marketing support and participation in US trade missions.
Invest NI director of trade Dr Vicky Kell said: “We’ve been working closely with the company on the development of an effective market entry strategy that will enable maximisation of the potential of Consilium’s TotalMobile product in this huge marketplace.”
