China accuses US of protectionism

China said it strongly opposed President Barack Obama’s decision to impose punitive tariffs on imports of car and light truck tyres, denouncing it as protectionism that violates World Trade Organisation rules.

The Ministry of Commerce said in a notice on its website today that the tariffs set a bad precedent in view of the global economic crisis.
