UK supermarket to hire 20,000 temporary Christmas staff

UK supermarket giant Sainsbury’s said today it will create up to 20,000 seasonal jobs to meet demand during the Christmas and New Year period.

At least 1,000 of the recruits are likely to be retained in permanent positions, in addition to the 2,300 jobs it has already announced it will create in the north of England and Scotland by next summer.
