Vodafone rally helps FTSE

A rally of more than 2% for market heavyweight Vodafone helped London’s FTSE 100 Index hold on to recent gains today.

The London market started on the back foot amid profit taking and following on from losses in Asia, but confidence returned as the session wore on to leave Footsie just 8.7 points lower at 4887.5 by mid-morning.
