A government taskforce has warned that the number of people on the Live Register in the mid-west could surge ahead of the national average if action is not taken to create jobs in the area.

The taskforce was established earlier this year to examine how to tackle unemployment in the region following Dell's announcement of 1,900 lay-offs in Limerick.
