Microsoft has reported a 29% slump in fourth-quarter profits after a year in which its revenues fell for the first time since 1986.

The software giant’s revenues of $13.1bn (€9.2bn) – down 17% - were well short of expectations, causing shares to slide 8% in after-hours trading in New York.
