Streamlined GM emerges from bankruptcy

US car giant General Motors emerged from bankruptcy today, relaunching itself as a streamlined and more customer-focused firm.

The “new” GM will be primarily owned by the US government and will focus on marketing it core brands such as Cadillac and Chevrolet.
