SIPTU to meet management from Dawn Meats
Union representatives are due to meet management from the Dawn Meats Group today to discuss the company's plan to move 100 jobs from Co Laois.
The company plans to transfer boning operations from the Meadow Meats facility in Rathdowney to its Grannagh operation on the Kilkenny-Waterford border.
It says all the workers from Rathdowney will be offered jobs in Grannagh.
However, SIPTU says this would not be feasible for most of the affected employees.
The union says it will try to save as many jobs as possible in Rathdowney and will be seeking generous redundancy terms for anyone who is laid off.
