The latest threat to 465 jobs at Lufthansa Technik in Co Dublin has been averted following day-long talks yesterday between management and unions at the aircraft maintenance firm.

The latest threat to 465 jobs at Lufthansa Technik in Co Dublin has been averted following day-long talks yesterday between management and unions at the aircraft maintenance firm.

In April, the workers accepted proposals on overtime and new work practices in order to safeguard the future of the plant in Rathcoole.

However, the company threatened to place all employees on protective notice this week amid a dispute over the interpretation of those proposals.

Unions say the situation has now been clarified and there will be weekly meetings to ensure a smooth transition for workers.
