ISEQ up more than 3%
The ISEQ index of Irish shares was valued at 2,823.33 at 11am this morning.
This represented an increase of 100.81 points or 3.63%.
It was a good morning overall, with risers far outweighing fallers. All of the major banks were on an upward curve, AIB rose 15c to €1.50, Bank of Ireland increased 16c to €1.86 and Irish Life & Permanent added 33c to reside at €3.70.
The positive movement was also evident in other sectors. Elan was up 32c to €5.62, Grafton Group was at €3.10 after a gain of 31c, Kingspan rose 38c to €5.01 and Smurfit Kappa had an increase of 37c to €4.37.
With fallers few and far between, Ryanair was noticeable for being one of the big fallers. It lost 11c to €3.52 on the day it announced losses of €169m.
