Monaghan food firm seeking 30 redundancies

Rye Valley Foods in Co Monaghan is seeking 30 redundancies.

The Carrickmacross plant, which produces ready-made frozen meals, currently employs 700 people.

The move is being blamed on increased competition, changes in consumer demand and the weakness of sterling against the euro.

SIPTU is assisting those affected in order to achieve the best possible redundancy terms and plans to liaise with management to ensure the remaining 670 jobs are safe.
