Plans announced for major wind farm in Co Clare

Up to 300 new jobs are expected to be created during the construction of one of the country's largest wind farms in Co Clare over the coming years.

The €200m proposal includes the construction of 30 wind turbines on the slopes of Mount Callan, between Ennis and Miltown Malbay, over a three-year period.

The community-based wind farm would be capable of generating enough electricity to power every home and business in Co Clare.

It would also help meet targets for the reduction of CO2 emissions and the promotion of renewable energy.
