ISEQ marginally up

The ISEQ index of Irish shares was valued at 2,420.99 at close today, a marginal rise of 2.51 points.

Noted risers included research company Icon, jumping 65c to 11.35; DCC plc, surging 48c to 13.40; Grafton group, up 22c to 2.82; Smurfit Kappa, rising 13c to 2.19; Ryanair, up 9c to 3.45; C&C Group, up 6c to 1.71, and Aer Lingus, cheering 5c to 0.73.

On the fallers' board, Elan Corp fell 17c to 4.35; also down 17c was Kerry Group, to 14.88; CRH fell 13c to 16.82 and Paddy Power dropped 7c to 14.47.

It was mostly a day of little movement for the financials, with Bank of Ireland down 1c at 0.66c and AIB unmoved at 0.85. Irish Life & Permanent however tumbled 16c to 1.69.
