Solaris satellite launched

A Dublin-based telecommunications company has successfully launched a satellite from Kazakhstan carrying digital communications equipment.

Solaris Mobile hopes to be able to provide digital mobile video, navigation and emergency assistance for European customers.

The IDA says Solaris is the first company of its kind to set up in Ireland and is a good reference for attracting other such investment.
