The ISEQ index of Irish shares was faring well in morning trading, up 26.33 points to 2,017.62 by 11am.

The ISEQ index of Irish shares was faring well in morning trading, up 26.33 points to 2,017.62 by 11am.

Leading the risers was Independent News and Media, up 8c or 74.47% to 0.18 as investors responded to the announcement that CEO Anthony O'Reilly is to step down.

Also climbing were Tullow Oil, up 15c to 8.25; Kerry Group and Kingspan, both up 10c to 15.45 and 2.56 respectively; Paddy Power, also up 10c to 12.10; Ryanair, rising 7c to 2.95; CRH, cheering 3c to 14.28, and Greencore, also cheering 3c to 0.75.

Notable on the fallers' board was Elan Corp, down 8c to 4.17.

Among the financials, AIB climbed 8c to 0.55, Bank of Ireland was up 5c to 0.28 and Irish Life & Permanent rose 3c to 0.82.
