30 new jobs for North company

A software company in the North is more than doubling its workforce with the creation of 30 jobs for graduates, it was announced today.

Philips Healthcare Informatics, of Belfast, is expanding to take advantage of business in the US and Europe for its core products.

The company – part of the huge Dutch headquartered Royal Philips Electronics Group – produces a hi-tech cardiovascular information system used by top hospitals.

The computerised system manages a hospital’s clinical and administrative records for heart patients and is used by a significant number of larger hospitals, including St Thomas’s Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London.

The system has long been the market leader in the UK and Ireland and is now being sold in international markets.

Announcing the expansion the North's Trade Minister Arlene Foster said: “The creation of these high-value specialist jobs shows that, even in an economic downturn, businesses that are focused on innovation and niche product development can continue to grow.”
