Boucher appointed BoI group chief executive

Richie Boucher has been announced as the new group chief executive of Bank of Ireland.

The 50-year-old will succeed Brian Goggin, who announced his retirement in January.

Boucher is to take up the post immediately. He has been with Bank of Ireland since 2003 and was appointed as director of the group in October 2006.

The governor of the bank, Richard Burrows, said Richie Boucher has "a broad range of banking experience and is an outstanding leader".

Mr Burrows says he is confident that Mr Boucher will "provide strong leadership at this very challenging time".
