Sales of Fair Trade products in Ireland increased by almost one-third in 2008, according to figures out today.

Sales of Fair Trade products in Ireland increased by almost one-third in 2008, according to figures out today.

FairTrade Mark Ireland says sales increased to more than €30m last year.

The figures have been released to mark the start of this year's Fair Trade fortnight.

Thirty-five Irish towns are certified Fair Trade centres and a number of activities have been organised throughout the next two weeks.
