G7 vows to fight economic protectionism
The G7 group of major economies today restated its determination to fight protectionism during the current global downturn.
Amid growing pressure at a national level for action to protect domestic jobs and industries, G7 finance ministers and central bankers meeting in Rome warned that protectionist policies would exacerbate a severe downturn which they expect to persist “through most of 2009”.
