John Prescott was today recruiting thousands of supporters every hour to his campaign against part-nationalised Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) paying out bonuses.

More than 23,000 people had added their name to the former deputy prime minister’s e-petition by this afternoon, up from 14,000 this morning.
