Banks and housebuilders made gains on the London market today ahead of another expected cut in interest rates and after a surprise lift in house prices.

Banks and housebuilders made gains on the London market today ahead of another expected cut in interest rates and after a surprise lift in house prices.

Lloyds Banking Group rose 5%, while FTSE 250 builder Barratt Developments also lifted 5% as the market anticipated a half point cut to another historic low of 1%.
