Irish companies warned of phone fraud

Irish companies are being warned they are losing millions of euro to phone fraud.

Irish and internationally-based hackers have been targeting businesses and exploiting weaknesses in their telecoms security to steal phone time which they use themselves or sell on.

Shaun Hayden from Minute Buyer the telecoms consultancy said while the problem has grown in recent months there are steps companies can take to counteract this.

“Educate oneself, educate staff and then have a look at your weaknesses and take steps to correct those weaknesses,” he said.
