Three Irish outlets among 36 Adams stores closed
A further 36 branches of struggling UK childrenswear chain Adams were closed today with the loss of 267 jobs, administrators said, among them three Irish outlets and two in the North.
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) said 62 jobs have also been cut at the company’s head office in Nuneaton.
Among the stores to close their doors were outlets in Cork (Merchant's Quay), Tralee, Limerick Parkway, Enniskillen and Newtownards
The store closures in the UK and Ireland came after a review of the business and “the continued difficulties on the high street”.
Joint administrator Rob Hunt said: “Our priorities are to work with the existing management team to continue trading the business as normal while we continue to pursue a sale.
“The recent job losses are regrettable but will place the company in a stronger position whilst we explore opportunities to conclude a sale.”
The administrator made around 850 people redundant at the beginning of the month when it closed 111 stores.
