Crafts Council expects sales of €40m at annual showcase

The Crafts Council has said it expects its annual showcase to generate sales in the region of €40m.

The event opens at the RDS in Dublin today with over a quarter of the 450 exhibitors taking part for the first time.

Chief executive of the Crafts Council, Una Parsons, said the sector offers real potential for job creation and export earnings.

“We estimate that €122m is the sales of Irish craft and €40m of that would be the export potential of it but there is huge opportunity for that to grow more,” she said.
