Technology firm with Galway operation files for bankruptcy
Technology firm Nortel Networks has filed for bankruptcy protection in Canada and the US, it was confirmed this afternoon.
The telecoms equipment company employs 300 people in Mervue, Co. Galway and a further 500 at a manufacturing plant just outside Belfast in Co Antrim.
In a statement the company said day-to-day operations were expected to continue at the Mervue plant without interruption.
