Workers at the Westmeath car components firm Iralco are returning to work this morning after a one-month shutdown.

The downturn in new car sales on the country's forecourts was blamed for the decision to close down operations for four weeks.

Iralco was taken over by new management last summer after running in to financial difficulties and 100 employees at the firm have been laid off in the intervening period.
