K&L wins Haulier of the Year award
K&L Deliveries, based in Millstreet, Co Cork, has been named Fleet Transport Irish Haulier of the Year 2009 at the second annual Fleet Transport Awards gala dinner in Meath recently.
More than 430 representatives from the road transport industry were on hand to see Gordon O’Keefe, managing director of K&L Deliveries, receive the prestigious award from Noel Ahern, Minister of State at the Department of Transport.
Mr O’Keefe, said: “As we continually strive to better ourselves, this award is a tribute to our dedicated 36 staff members for their hard work, day after day.”
K&L Deliveries was set up in 1986 with just two trucks.
The company has grown to a fleet of 35 vehicles, based at the firm’s 60,000 square foot warehouse in Millstreet from where it has built a sound reputation in the haulage business in the south of Ireland.
They believe in providing their customers with a high-quality, reliable, fast and flexible service which is individually tailored to meet the needs of their customers.
K&L Deliveries will now go forward to represent Ireland in the 2010 European Transport Operator of the Year Competition.
The Millstreet-based transport company is the Cork and Kerry member of The Pallet Network (TPN), which also scooped an award at the annual gala dinner, winning the prestigious Fleet Transport Pallet Network of the Year 2009.
Since its launch in 2004, TPN has grown its revenues to over €9.2m in 2007 and plans to triple this figure in the next three years.
They anticipate creating 100 new jobs in the network by 2010.
Benefits of membership of the TPN network include the ability to provide a nationwide service, in addition to accessing both UK and European markets.
“Both the Irish Haulier of the Year award and the Pallet Network of the Year award exemplify how TPN’s business model is resonating within the haulage industry,” said Seamus McGowan, managing director, TPN.
“We are now more confident than ever about our future, which includes plans to expand into Eastern Europe.”
