Durex condoms-to-Scholl footcare firm SSL International today said its global brands were beating the global downturn as half-year profits rocketed 46%.
Sales of Durex jumped 10% to £126.4m (€148m) in the six months to September 30 - aided by the expansion of its Play range.
Scholl was also helped by new products such as Perfect Nail and its Cracked Heel Repair Cream as sales rose more than 15%.
Shares in SSL added 3% as the group’s pre-tax profits jumped to £32.5m (€38m).
Chief executive Garry Watts highlighted the enduring strength of SSL’s major brands, adding: “While we are cognisant of the difficult trading environment we’re optimistic about our future.”
