ESB to significantly expand British operations

The ESB has announced a €4bn plan to significantly expand its operations in Britain.

The move will see the international arm of the state-owned firm building power plants capable of generating around 3,000 megawatts.

ESB International has acquired an interest in a number of British power companies as part of the venture, which includes gas-fired power stations and wind-power projects.
