Business activity expected to weaken further

IIB Bank says it expects business activity levels in Ireland to decline further by the end of the year following a weakening over the past three months.

The bank says its latest assessment also shows that two-fifths of firms have reduced their workforces in recent months.

One-third of companies say the credit crunch is having a substantial effect on economic activity by weakening demand for goods and services.
