Connemara Mines has reported losses of around €250,000 for the first six months of this year.

The zinc and lead mine was making a loss of around €36,000 this time last year, but the figure has now jumped to €250,000.

However, Connemara Mines says it still has sufficient funds to continue its operation in full and follow through with future drilling plans.

Earlier today, Galmoy Mines in Co Kilkenny confirmed its intention to close over the coming three years with the loss of 200 jobs.
