Oil prices fell to their lowest level in four months today as the threat from a weaker-than-expected Hurricane Gustav faded.

Gustav – downgraded to a tropical storm by US meteorologists – appeared to have caused little damage to oil installations after hitting the coast of Louisiana yesterday afternoon.
