Mayo travel agent ceases trading

A leading travel agent in the west of the country has ceased trading with immediate effect.

Great Escapes, which operated flights out of Knock Airport, had been in business for at least the last five years in Swinford, Co Mayo.

However, it has notified the Commission for Aviation Regulation of its decision to cease trading.

The commission says the company's bookings are unlikely to be honoured following the decision.

It also says it is in talks with the relevant air carriers to make arrangements for passengers currently abroad with the firm.
