The owner of Cobra Beer was today said to be in talks with Guinness firm Diageo about a deal to secure more investment for the lager brand.

Diageo – the world’s biggest alcoholic drinks firm – could take a 30% stake and provide marketing and distribution support in order to grow Cobra, which is popular in UK curry houses and increasingly sold through pubs and bars.
