Employers warned to comply with pensions probes

The Pensions Ombudsman is warning employers that failure to comply with his investigations could result in a criminal conviction.

The warning comes as a Galway builder, David Denton, director of 3D Restoration and Construction Ltd, of Barnaderg in Galway, was prosecuted at Tuam District Court today for failing to comply with the Ombudsman's investigations.

The Ombudmsan, Paul Kenny, took legal proceedings against Mr Denton after he failed to comply with his request for payroll documentation.

The request was made while Mr Denton was under investigation following allegations that pensions deductions he made from wages were not remitted to the Construction Workers Pensions Scheme.
