Trading among the UK’s quoted retailers is at its lowest ebb for more than three years as the high street squeeze worsens, a study revealed today.

A quarter of all retail firms on the stock market reported negative trading statements in the past three months, according to Grant Thornton’s Quoted Retail Companies Index.
