The ISEQ-index of Irish shares fell 28.69 points to 5,549.43 as shares continued their a steady decline again this morning.

The ISEQ-index of Irish shares fell 28.69 points to 5,549.43 as shares continued their a steady decline again this morning.

Most of the banking big guns suffered losses with AIB and IL&P both tumbling 10c to €11.15 and €9.30 respectively.

Anglo staved off major losses but still managed to shed 4c off its share price to stand at €9.30 by 11.20am.

The only banking share to record gains was Bank of Ireland where shares shot up 12c to €6.87 as investors scrambled to regain some ground.

This morning's biggest loser Elan Pharmaceutical plunged 82c to €16.28 in 4.8% loss.
