Bank worker steals €1.5m in Serbia

Authorities say that nearly €1.5m has been stolen from a bank in central Serbia, apparently by an employee.

Investigative judge Slobodan Svilkic says the robbery took place at Raifeissen Bank in the central town of Kragujevac yesterday.

Svilkic said that a 29-year-old cashier identified as Aleksandar S. made off with the money sometime during the morning but that the robbery was not discovered until late afternoon.

B92 radio reported that the suspect left a note to his boss apologising for what he had done. Svilkic said police were investigating whether any other people were involved.
