Hauliers threaten to down tools over fuel prices
Road hauliers are threatening to park up their vehicles at the end of this month because of rising fuel costs.
Members of the Irish Road Haulage Association met in Cork last night to discuss widespread losses as a result of the fuel-price surge.
Association president Jimmy Quinn says many clients are playing hardball and refusing to accept extra delivery surcharges.
He says the chance of a resolution in the immediate future is slim and drivers may decide to leave their trucks in their yards rather than suffer further losses.
