Up to 150 jobs are reportedly set to be shed by a chain of home improvement stores because of the downturn in the housing market.

Reports this morning say the Wolseley Group, which owns Tubs and Tiles, Brooks and Heat Merchants, has informed staff that it will be seeking the redundancies on either a voluntary or compulsory basis.

The company had taken on around 600 workers in recent years due to the boom in the property market.
