British regional newspaper group Johnston Press today announced plans for a £212m (€267m) cash call to investors as it struggles against an advertising slowdown.

The firm, which publishes titles including The Scotsman and The Star in Sheffield, made the request to shareholders as it unveiled a 7.1% drop in like-for-like advertising revenues in the 17 weeks to April 26.
