Chambers Ireland pay tribute to Ahern

Chambers Ireland president David Pierce paid tribute to Taoiseach Bertie Ahern ahead of his final day in office today.

Ahern will today officially tender his resignation after 11 years as Taoiseach.

"I had the pleasure of accompanying An Taoiseach overseas on trade missions, and was always struck by his passion and energy for promoting Ireland as a world-class destination for investment.

"He was an outstanding statesman who represented Ireland on the international stage ardently."
