Day of losses for ISEQ
The ISEQ index finished down 31.75 points to 6,205.31 today.
Anglo Irish Bank was the only company in the financial sector to show a gain, inching up 4c to €8.05. Elsewhere, both Allied Irish Banks (down 28c to €13.40) and Irish Life And Permanent (down 24c to 1€1.80) took a hit. Bank of Ireland was down slightly, losing 8c to finish on €9.32.
There were contrasting fortunes in the construction sector also. CRH was down 32c to €23.97. Kingspan was up 10c to €8.60.
It was generally bad news across the Exchange, however. Both FBD and Irish Continental Group lost a full 50c to finish on €33 and €22.50 respectively.
The biggest loss of the day came for Paddy Power, which plunged 59c to €22.30. Icon was not far behind, down 40c to €39.60. CPL shed 20c to €3.60.
Elan bucked the trend, jumping 60c to €15.
