British Airways peace talks break down
Talks aimed at averting a strike by British Airways pilots in a row over the airline’s proposed new subsidiary broke down tonight.
Leaders of the British Airline Pilots Association (Balpa) have been meeting the company all week following a vote in favour of industrial action by pilots.
The unions is in dispute with BA over its proposed subsidiary airline OpenSkies which will fly passengers from mainland Europe to the United States.
The union said it feared pay and conditions would be lower at the new venture.
According to the union, BA is now seeking a court injunction in a bid to prevent pilots taking industrial action.
