Budweiser brewer considers bid for Scottish & Newcastle

Budweiser brewer Anheuser-Busch is considering making a counter bid for beer and cider group Scottish & Newcastle, according to a report today.

The American group, which is the world’s third largest beer maker, is said to be pouring over S&N’s books with a view to possibly trumping the £7.8bn (€10.3bn) agreed offer from Carlsberg and Heineken.
