Dublin Chamber: Six Nations match brings €35m to Ireland
Dublin Chamber of Commerce said today that visiting fans for this weekend’s Six Nations match between Ireland and Scotland in Croke Park will add €35m to the national coffers.
With attendance at the match between 71,000 and 73,000, Dublin Chamber estimates that two in five of these ticket holders will be out-of-state visitors who are here to enjoy both the match and other leisure offerings in Dublin City.
The Chamber also estimated that fans will spend €10m on accommodation during their visit.
Gina Quin, Chief Executive of Dublin Chamber said: “Rugby visitors will also be treating themselves to €9.5m in food and drink, with another €5m spent on entertainment.”
“The benefits of the day will last long beyond the final whistle though, as we have found that the majority of out-of-state visitors have said they would return to Dublin because of their ‘rugby experience’.”
