Kildare Batchelors plant closes with loss of 16 jobs

Batchelors has announced plans to close its packaging operation in Athy in Co Kildare with the loss of 16 jobs.

The food processing company is moving the operation to its new 1m facility in the Cabra area of Dublin.

The facility will produce Erin Foods brand products for the Irish and export markets.

Batchelors says it will continue to source peas for its canning plant from farmers in the Athy region.
